How My Adult Children Keep an Eye on Me

Thursday, December 2, 2021

Today is Thursday, December 2, 2021. It’s the 336th day of 2021. There are 29 days remaining in the year. 46 degrees greeted me when I left the house this morning for coffee and writing.

Today’s Selfie

The selfie is from today. The Wallpaper on my iPhone is my granddaughter’s picture. I’m trying something new by holding up the phone with a date and time on it to show my adult children I’m alive and well. Consider it a semi-automated way to check in with them.

One Way to Keep Track

I learned when caring for my aging parents how frustrating it could be when they didn’t answer my emails or calls. I then had to drive fifty-miles to their house to make sure they were okay. My adult children a private Facebook group for them where they can keep track of me.

I know we could use GPS location software, but I’m not willing to use the location services to track my activities. If I need tracked – say for memory issues, for example, I’ll do it.

Medical Alert Bracelet

I wear a Medical alert bracelet. It’s for a sulfa drug allergy and heart issues. In case of emergency there’s a contact (ice #) engraved with of one of my adult children’s name and phone number on it.

This morning I’m drinking coffee and editing at the Preston and Lorimar Starbucks in Plano. The day is like so many others. Devotion time, writing, editing, walking, getting allergy shots, a nap, attending an online Zoom Refresh Bible Study meeting, and watching a Hallmark Christmas movie fill the hours.

A Question

Do you do anything to help your adult children keep on eye on you? If so, share in the comments.
